inception of the idea
When I was explained the heat press project I immediately knew that I wanted to make a design with an NHL team. The two teams I was deciding between was either the Vancouver Canucks or the Seattle Kraken. I ended up on choosing the Seattle Kraken because I think that the design I found will look better on a t-shirt.

creating the design
Once I found a really nice looking design of the Seattle kraken design I took a screenshot and changed the colors on the 3D paint. Then I uploaded that image into illustrator and image traced it. Shortly after that I ungrouped the image so that the vinyl cutter would only cut the area that I want in the right color. Next, I added "Seattle Hockey" twice so that it could overlap on the shirt and look really cool. My file was then ready to be used on the vinyl cutter.

Using the Vinyl cutter
Using the vinyl cutter at first seemed very easy to me because I already knew how to use it. The only problem was that on my first attempt I cut out the wrong side. Also, I forgot to mirror the image so that the text would look correct on my shirt. Thankfully on my next attempt my file worked and all I had to then was to use the heat press.

What I learned
During this unit I learned about how to design and make custom clothing. I did this by using the heat press, vinyl cutter, and adobe illustrator. The most important thing I learned during this unit though was to think and create something original on paper and then turn it into reality. I believe that this is a important skill in life as a whole whenever I go through the design process. Making my own custom clothing was actually really fun and I hope that I can do this again sometime later in life.
